My favorite holiday

I love love LOVE Thanksgiving! It is truly my favorite time of year. I spend most of the week feeling overwhelmed and panicking about my cooking schedule, but I really love it. I love preparing a huge meal for my family, I love listening to oldies all day, and I love just hanging out and enjoying the day with my guys.

We have no guests coming this year, but I have enlisted the guys to help with the cooking. Hubbs will be tackling the bacon wrapped jalapenos, and Youngest will be making the pies. Of course, there will be LOADS of pictures documenting all of this.

I can't WAIT!

Book Review

Shop Girl by Steve Martin.

This is one of my favorite books, and I had the urge to re-read it. Funny man Steve Martin is quite the writer.

The story of a millionaire, waiting for Ms. Right, and passing the time with Mirabelle the shop girl until she comes along. Mirabelle, of course, is in love. It's interesting to see both sides of the same relationship. Heartbreaking, but interesting.

Read it. And watch the movie. It makes me cry every time.

Woo Hoo!

Have I mentioned how much I love Thanksgiving? I LOVE this holiday. I love preparing a huge meal for my family, I love spending the day in the warm kitchen, I love eating what I want without counting the calories, and I love spending time with my guys.

Today is my Friday-I took tomorrow off so I could start my baking. I think I’m going to sneak in a few side dishes too, to make Thursday a bit easier.

Brother-in-law and Nephews arrive tomorrow night, so today and tomorrow will be spent doing last minute cleaning and digging out air mattresses.

It feels good to be happy. I know that sounds silly, but the last batch of holidays were my first ones since my mother died, so this year I think it will be a little easier on me. I still miss her, but I can express it without gut wrenching sobs.

Happy happy!

New Favorite Saying

Hubbs: I have no clean jeans in the closet.

Me: You know why? Cause they are all in the dryer. Ooh, wicked burn!

Hubbs: I didn't even say anything bad.

Me: Just let me have my fun.

Book Review

Bright Shiny Morning by James Frey

I LOVED this book. It is the story (stories) of several people and how they ended up in Los Angeles, and what happens to their dreams once they get here. (Oops, I mean there. I don't live there anymore. I'm leaving the typo)

I could not put it down, and I cried on several different occasions. James Frey has really redeemed himself. Highly HIGHLY recommended.

Wow Ee Wow Wow

I LOVE Frank Sinatra. I love his movies, his singing-everything about him. He was one sharp player-the living end. And since I'm such a ring-a-ding broad, I have provided you with this link to learn to talk like he did-it's a gas!*

*Clicking the link will also help you decipher what I just said up there. And yes, I know I'm a nerd.
