Mother's Day

I'm over it. Missing my mother, combined with some other nonsense from the weekend, has left me not really caring if I ever celebrate another mother's day again. I tried to enjoy it, I really did. Watched a couple of movies, trimmed my rose bush-but the blues have set in, and I just don't care about it anymore.

Or, in the words of Holly Golightly-"The mean reds"

"The mean reds, you mean like the blues?"

"No. The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?"

yes, i get that feeling. no matter what i try to do today, i can not get a grip on my emotions and seem to be able to do anything but sit here...mothers day is rough, whether you grieve the loss of a mother you had, or the mother you never had, or the grandmother that you lost, it is rough, and sad. i am sorry for your pain. i don't know where you are, but my heart is sent to you today. hugs, mile 191

Years ago I used this sample in the intro of a song I covered.

" You know those days when you get the mean reds?"

Mom bought me the box set of Breakfast at Tiffany's for Christmas, 1994. Comes with a photocopied version of her entire script with notes in the margins and such =)

And while I am not a mother myself, I can certainly relate to your feelings in regards to other holidays and the expectations of those involved.

Thanks Mile, hugs back.

Deirdre, that is an AWESOME gift! How very cool.

And that's the problem, isn't it? The expectations....stupid holidays.
